It is the winter time

And all is calm. Not really, but good enough for me.

Our last batch of ducklings that we hatched from our own fertile duck eggs are peeping in our funky living room. There is nothing like living with 100s of animals to make your own quarters pick up a sense of stable.

There are plenty of inside projects to be done, but we are so relieved to be done with the year that we are spending quality time thinking and planning for a change, rather then panicking and reacting. We want to go into next year with a solid head on our shoulders and a few dollars in the bank. Maybe 2013 will be the year that we can afford to pay ourselves something? Doubtful.

Meanwhile the tasks at hand distract from the beauty all around us, but we continue to try to take one day at a time and live our lives.
